PERTH’S world-famous quintuplets were treated to a dip at Australia’s first baby spa — though it’s probably their “super mum” who deserves the pampering.
The visit to the new Baby Spa Perth in Subiaco gave Kim Tucci and her husband Vaughn a moment of much-needed peace from their organised chaos.
Their quintuplets — girls Tiffany, Penelope, Beatrix and Allie, and their brother Keith — will be six months old at the end of July.
“We are learning to manage as the days go by, in fact we don’t have a choice when it comes to coping, we try to embrace what life has given us,” Mrs Tucci said.
The couple’s sleep deprivation isn’t helped by the fact their older daughters, Aiva (5) and Indiana (3), sleep in their parents’ room because their own room is too noisy for them at night.
An army of family, friends and strangers has come to the couple’s rescue, rostered on to help them with countless tasks as they manage the babies’ non-stop, military-style schedule.
“We no longer say we have volunteers, we have lifelong friends,” Mrs Tucci said. “We couldn’t do it without them, our lives have been so much brighter with these people apart of it.”
She said the local and global reaction to her miracle — a one in 55 million pregnancy of naturally conceived quintuplets — had been phenomenal and touching.
Mrs Tucci, who has more than 330,000 followers on her Facebook blog, said her babies were “thoroughly relaxed” after their baby spa experience of being massaged and bobbing around in the water with special neck supports.
She was especially interested in the associated health benefits, said to include help with reflux, colic and constipation.
